Copy of your valid passport (ID is sufficient for EU residents) (required)

A clear scan of the pages in your passport that contain your personal data. A copy of a passport (or ID) that is no longer valid cannot be accepted.

Diploma(s) (required)

A scan of the original Bachelor’s degree or certificate and an official translation in English (when required).

An official translation must be one of the following:

  1. Issued by the awarding institution
  2. An officially certified copy of a translation issued by the awarding institution
  3. Translated by an official translator
  4. An officially certified copy of a translation made by an official translator

Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents; translations done by the applicant are not accepted

Will be used for evaluating your academic record.

Note. After the publication of admission results, the selected students must submit certified (attested) copies of the degree certificate and transcript of records by the given deadline. Admission is conditional until certified hard copies of the documents have been received. The conditionally granted study right will be cancelled if the certified documents are not received as requested. The certified documents will be compared to the electronic documents uploaded to the application portal. During the application phase, SE4GD Admissions Office will also perform spot checks on educational documents with the issuing universities.

Transcript of records (required)

A list of grades that your previous academic study/studies and an official translation in English (when required).

You must indicate your CGPA for your previous degree on your application form with two decimals or, calculate it if not indicated in the Degree Certificate or Transcript of Records.

If you have not yet completed your educational programme, please send temporary transcripts showing the grades you have received to date. In that case, please also send us a list of courses that are not on the temporary transcripts but that you will have to take to complete your programme. You need to finish the education programme and provide the degree certificate latest by the end of August.

Description of relevant courses of your previous higher education (required)

A list of the most relevant courses/modules in relation to the SE4GD programme contents, that were part of your Bachelor’s (and Master’s, if applicable) programme, with a short description of the contents of these courses. You can either copy this from a study guide or type a 5-10 line description for each relevant course if a study guide is not readily available.

Provide also the title of your thesis and abstract (or short description of the work).

Language certificate (required)

Language certificate is the other eligibility criteria for the application process. The admission requirements shows the requirements for the language certificate. If you do not fulfill the requirements you won’t get past the first screening.

SE4GD requires all applicants who have not completed their education in USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia or Canada to provide us with an English language test score that meets the required minimum set for the programme . If you cannot yet provide us with a positive score yet, please register for a recognized English language test (IELTS tests, Cambridge tests, and TOEFL tests). We are  also accepting the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition. The test is available everywhere that TOEFL iBT testing is normally available, with the exception of Mainland China and Iran.

Additional educational documents (optional)

You may have to upload additional educational documents under certain circumstances for example:

  • Degree Certificate for your Master’s Degree and an official translation in English
  • Transcript of Records for another degree or for additional university level studies (incl. Universities of Applied Sciences) and an official translation in English

Curriculum Vitae (required)

A curriculum vitae that includes your personal details and lists your previous education and relevant work experience. A Europass CV template is a preferred form of CV.

CV should list your achievements related to the SE4GD within your CV, such as

  • Possible award, e.g. of your study success
  • Additional course certificates (related to topics of SE4GD), e.g. certificates of MOOC courses
  • Possible work certificates (related to topics of SE4GD)
  • Publications (related to topics of SE4GD), if applicable

Used for evaluating your track record.

Note. Make sure that in CV you clarify any residence type of visits (e.g. studies in UK or summer work in Germany) in EU area.

Recommendation letters (optional)

You may attach max. two recommendation letters. These recommendation letters can be from your academic supervisors or industry supervisors. Note, that it’s best if the recommendation letters are from persons that really know your achievements and strengths. And it is beneficial if the recommendation letters state your suitability to this program rather than being very general one.

Can be used for evaluating your track record.

Motivation letter (required)

Motivation letter is the single most important document that you attach to the application. With carefully targeted motivation letter you convince us that you really want to get to this programme and you are deeply interested in the topics of the programme.

Good motivation letter

  • Shows that you focus to this programme (it’s not a copy of a general motivation letter)
  • Reflects to your perception towards the programme (both software engineering and sustainability)
  • Shows how you want to develop in the field of the programme
  • Is personal i.e. it emphasizes more of your own experiences and reflections than reflections found from academic literature.
This letter is used for evaluating your motivation towards this programme. This letter is max. 1 page. Text over this one page limit will not be evaluated.
