Application procedure

Follow these six steps during the SE4GD admission process. Note that you can complete the first two steps before our application period begins.

  1. Study our admission requirements
  2. Prepare for the admission
    1. Take a language test (if required)
    2. Start collecting your application documents
  3. Fill in and submit the online application
  4. Submit your language test scores (if required)
  5. Monitor your e-mail for our message and complement your application (if required)
  6. If your application was eligible and proceeded to the academic evaluation, wait for the selection results to be published

See below for further information on each step.

Step 1 – Study our admission requirements

Before you begin the application process, check your compliance with our admission requirements.

NOTE: You cannot apply to the SE4GD programme if you have previously received Erasmus Mundus funding.

Step 2 – Prepare for the admission

If an English language test is required from you and you have not taken the test yet, book a seat for it immediately. Applications without a valid English test result are not eligible and will not be processed further.

In application portal you should first register yourself (top right corner) and then login to start your preparing application.  Try to answer all questions with care and ask if you have any doubts. There are several mandatory elements to help our evaluation process.

Step 3 – Fill in and submit the online application

Application portal will be open at the time of the application rounds. We have two rounds for each intake (cohort)

  •  Applications for funded students (with a predefined set of scholarships) around December-January each year
  • Applications for self-funded students around March-April each year

Late applications will not be accepted, so submit your online application before the application deadline. Before submitting it, check the application and its attachments carefully.

In the online application form, you will be asked about:

  • personal and contact information
  • previous education
  • motivation for the SE4GD studies
  • course descriptions of relevant courses taken
  • the scholarships you want to apply (incl. Erasmus Mundus scholarships)

In addition, you will be asked to upload all of your application documents to the application portal. Try to have good quality electronic copies if possible.

NOTE! If you applied as funded student and did not get the study position and want to apply as self-funded student, the eMundus platform should give you a choice of using your previous application in the funded students call. Thus you do not have to set everything again. If that for some reason does not work let us know.

Step 4 – Submit your language test scores (if required)

If an official English language test result is required from you (see Admission requirements), how you should submit the test result for verification depends on the test taken. The deadline for the English language test result to be received by the SE4GD Admissions Office (SE4GD ( a t ) lut.fi) is

  • For the funded students call – 31.1.2024.
  • For the self-funded students spring 2024 (follow dates on our home page)

If you have followed these instructions, you have now applied to SE4GD and we will process your application. What happens next?

Step 5 – Eligibility check

The SE4GD Admissions Office will first check your online application and its attachments for the eligibility.

Please note that the SE4GD Consortium will not process applications/documents that have arrived after the deadline. In addition, the Consortium will not review or comment any application documents sent by email during the application process.

Step 6 – If your application was eligible, wait for the selection result to be published

The academic evaluation means that the academic staff of all six consortium universities will evaluate the eligible SE4GD applications, and make the final selection and scholarship decisions. This will take place in February and we hope to publish the selection results by Mid-March.

We will inform all applicants about the selection results by e-mail.

The admission letters and all practical instructions will be sent to the selected students soon after.

Good luck during the admission process!
