Lappeenranta, Finland | Jan/Feb-June | ||||

1. Accept your study place, and thus the possible EMJMD scholarship, at the eMundus portal
Please note that you may only accept one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland per term. If you have applied to more than one programme, in Finland you should check the status of your applications for all programmes before accepting this offer. Accepting a study place is a binding choice, and you cannot cancel or change your choice later. When you accept a study place bindingly, all your other study programmes will automatically be cancelled.
Note that if you do not accept the study place in the SE4GD programme within the deadline, your study place and possible scholarship will be automatically withdrawn and transferred to a student on the waiting list.
2. Send your academic documents following the country-specific requirements, if applicable, to the SE4GD programme office as soon as possible. You must make sure that the documents arrive to the SE4GD programme office by the latest of August 31st at 15:00 (Helsinki time).
Please read the instructions carefully: https://se4gd.lutsoftware.com/admitted-students/authenticating-documents/ and for the country specific instructions: https://se4gd.lutsoftware.com/application-process/country-specific-requirements/
3. Apply for a 2-year residence permit (non-EU/EEA citizens).
You are advised to start the Student residence permit, Mobility periods to Italy and Netherlands, and visa procedure only after you receive all the documents from us, not earlier, as they will not process incomplete applications.
https://migri.fi/en/residence-permit-application-for-studies Please wait for the instructions and documents patiently.
4. Apply for accommodation.
In SE4GD you will travel through different countries and that naturally creates the need (and stress) of having new housing for each country and thus new processes. SE4GD local personnel will help you in these processes.
The accommondation in general is either in student apartments or in private apartments. Typical apartments are shared so that everyone has their own room with a shared facilities (kitchen, restroom within the apartment and laundry room for the whole house). In Lappeenranta, Finland apartments are typically shared among 2 persons. There might also be some 3 person apartments.
5. Plan your travel to Italy
The other thing the distributed nature of SE4GD brings to you is the arrangement of travels between semesters.SE4GD aims to plan the semesters so that it’s as fluent as possible to move from one location to another.
Naturally the most important travel you need to arrange is from your home country to Italy for the first semester. We propose that you plan the arrival early enough to get familiarized to the area and culture. We plan to arrange welcoming week for the students to get familiar with each other before the actual courses start.
6. For self-funding students
Pay the participation cost for the first academic year in the SE4GD programme (either in one or two instalments). Please see more instructions in the admission letter.
7. Enroll as present for the academic year in Italy
Each university, while studying there, requires you to enroll as present student. The registration may require some small student union fees (SE4GD programme takes care but you might have to pay those in the first place by yourself) and through this may provide student health care service (e.g. in LUT).
8. Check your email regularly for additional information
Please note that all information will be communicated to the email address that you have given in your online application. Thus, please notify the SE4GD programme office in case you change your email address. There will also be mailing list for all the accepted students that is linked (at the moment) to your email address you gave while applying to the SE4GD programme.
You will also be assigned a student tutor closer to the start of the academic year. We encourage you to be in contact with your tutor as s/he can help you with practicalities when arriving to different countries.
